Low-cement content gravity dam as an alternative for Pskem HPP

In this paper, we consider the numerical justification of possibility to construct a low-cement content concrete gravity dam as an alternative traditional solution with rockfill in Pskem HPP canyon on river Uzbekistan Republic. The calculation studies were performed using finite element method (FEM), considering non-linear (elastoplastic) behavior and foundation rock ANSYS software package. Seismic stability structure was ascertained by means time-dependent transient dynamic analysis accordance implicit temporal scheme, since such approach allows trace development plastic deformations during loading well evaluate possible adverse effects. Maximum design earthquake bicomponent accelerogram involved input data for seismic analysis. According results study conclusions made about construction high geotechnical, hydrological climatic conditions site River other HPPs Chirchik-Bozsu cascade Republic, which are now under design. reported funded RFBR, project number 20-38-90160.
